Rivers East Mobile Clinic Takes Off
A 32- seater coaster
bus to be remodelled into a mobile clinic has been procured to serve the eight Local Government Areas of the Rivers East Senatorial District of Rivers State.
The bus, along with thirteen 14- seater buses were presented to various groups including The Nigeria Red Cross Society, Port Harcourt Division by the Senator representing the district, Senator Thompson George Sekibo.
Senator Sekibo said the donation was in furtherance of his government scheme for his constituents, noting that the well being of his constituents was of utmost importance to him.
He stated that the project carried out in partnership with the National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) was a yearly programme that began in 2008.
The Senator noted that he had in the past contributed to the well-being of his constituents through the donation of computers to secondary schools, provision of healthcares including surgery, bursary to brilliant orphan students in tertiary schools and post graduate scholarship to students.
He disclosed that he chose to touch many lives directly through such mass benefit schemes. He announced that the annual free health care programme has come to stay and expressed the hope that people will benefit from it.
In her address, a representative of NAPEP, Mrs Adeniran Olayinka congratulated the Senator for his democratic dividends and expressed the hope that other politicians would emulate him.
In his response, Chairman, Nigeria Red Cross Society, Port Harcourt Division, Mr. David West Egede, one of the recipients, expressed gratitude to the Senator, pointing out that the bus with enhance their humanitarian work.
