Okorocha Charges Youths On Cultural Transformation
Governor Rochas
Okorocha of Imo has charged youths in the state to be good ambassadors and agents of Igbo language and cultural transformation wherever they found themselves.
Okorocha made the call last Wednesday when he treated beauty queens from the 27 local government areas to a breakfast at the Government House, Owerri.
He said his administration was determined to make Imo better in every facet, especially in human capacity building and job creation for the teeming youths.
He urged the youths not to be distracted but to be diligent, morally sound and make good use of every opportunity noting that they were required to be good representatives of their families, communities and state at all times.
The governor stressed the need for them to promote the Igbo language and culture to foster unity, attract tourists and investors as well as bring cross-cultural development.
The state government in 2013 organised the Imo Beauty Pageant in the various local governments. Miss Obianuju Amadi emerged as the “Ada Imo” while Mr Ikenna Nwadike was crowned the ‘Opara Imo”.
The winners each got a car and cash of N1 million as well as a trip to South Africa.
The runners up got a trip to Abuja while the third placed contestants got a weekend treat at Concord Hotel in Owerri.
Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Culture, Mr Paddy Obinna, commended Okorocha for the opportunity he gave to the youths through the beauty pageant.
He also thanked him for making the pageant an annual event and charged the youths to work in tandem with the government.
Nwadike thanked the governor for the opportunity given them and promised on behalf of others to be good ambassadors as well as agents of transformation.
