Obi Showers N57m On Anambra Youths

ernment has disbursed the sum of N56.6m to 506 youths from different parts of Anambra State under the state youth empowerment programme which formed part of its measures to comprehensively tackle the challenges of unemployment.
The state Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, presented cheques of N100,000.00 to the beneficiaries at Neni at the weekend after a two-week character development/vocational and skill acquisition Programme
Speaking at the event, the Governor, who recalled that over 5000 youths had already benefitted from the programme since it was initiated in 2010, assured that beneficiaries who distinguished themselves would receive more support from the state government and expressed satisfaction that some of the pioneer beneficiaries had justified government’s huge investment in the programme.
The member representing Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia Federal Constituency, Hon. Uche Ekwunife, thanked the Governor for giving the youth life-line to actualise their aspirations and enjoined the beneficiaries to reciprocate the governor’s kind gesture through judicious and prudent management of the funds given to them to engender multiplier effects.
The chairman of the occasion and former Chaplain of the State House, Abuja, Rev. Dr. William Okoye, noted that Governor Obi had revived the fortune of Anambra State, adding that the programme was aimed at developing new crop of leaders with different mind-set and orientation.
Also speaking, Bishop Paul Nwachukwu of the Grace of God Mission, described the financial intervention as a seed that would feed the youth all the days of their lives if invested wisely.
The Facilitator of the Programme and Communication Consultant, Dr. Okey Ikechukwu, said that many of the pioneer beneficiaries had become employers of labour and had continued to expand their investment in various parts of the state and country..
He charged the youth to imbibe Governor Obi’s value of humility, prudence, sense of propriety and comprehensive development.
