The two-day project commissioning and visit of former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has been described by stakeholders as democracy in action.
According to them, the visit was coming at a time the state was faced with political challenges, explaining that it would affirm the political leadership, achievements and popularity of Rt. Hon Chibuike Amaechi in the state.
Commissioner for Youths Development, Sir Owunwene Wonodi in a chat with newsmen at the Ambassador Nne Kurubo Model Secondary School, Eleme, said that the visit has showcased that the Amaechi-led administration was working.
Wonodi asserted that since the administration came to power in 2007, it has demonstrated a rare zeal to transform the state.
“Despite the opposition and attacks on him, the governor has remained steadfast because of the good works he is doing in the state,” he said.
He praised the governor for remaining focused, noting that he was delighted to be part of success story and legacy of the administration.
On his part, Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, Hon. Maclean Uranta at the Songhai Farm I Bunu Tai held that Chief Obasanjo visit was a demonstration that God was in charge of the affairs of the state.
Hon. Uranta, who recalled the ‘K-Leg’ saga in 2007, remarked that, “God has shown that leadership comes from Him because He knows the ability and strength of those He choose to lead.”
Uranta opined that the ex-president through the projects he has commissioned, has come to realise that the ‘K-Leg’ was a mistake.
The Opobo/Nkoro Local Government chairman thanked Obasanjo for visiting to silence the opposition who wants to run down the Amaechi administration.
It would be recalled that former President Obasanjo was in the state for a two-day visit during which he commissioned over 15 projects executed and completed by the  Amaechi administration.
Obasanjo described Governor Amaechi as a visionary leader, and urged him to continue in his good works despite activities of opposition, reasoning that many people would in the future appreciate the vision of the government.
