Nine In Custody Over Alleged Robbery

Nine persons have
been remanded in Port Harcourt Prison by a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court for an alleged robbery.
The accused persons arraigned in a Charge Sheet number PMC 221C/2014; are Christain Onwumere, 34; Emmanuel Effiong, 23; Hope Uroupa 25; Orlando-Abisoko, 39; Lawrence Tombota-muno, 28, Eric David, 38, Justice Thomas, 30, Charles Ichen, 22 and Kingsley Pamor, 26 are standing trial on five count charge of armed robbery, stealing and conspiracy before Emmanuel C. Woke.
The prosecuting Police Officer, Insp Edward Ojiezele told the court that the accused persons on the 24th day of October, 2013, at Fidelity Bank UST Branch, Port Harcourt in the Port Harcourt Magisterial district did conspire among themselves to commit felony to wit robbery The police prosecution stated that the accused persons and others now at large on the same date and place in the aforesaid magisterial district while armed with AK47 riffle and other dangerous weapon did rob Fidelity Bank UST Branch, Port Harcourt, the sum of twenty-six million, eight hundred thousand naira, N26,800,000.00) four thousand and three hundred and fifty US dollars ($4,350), three hundred and righty three British pounds sterling ($383) and one thousand five hundred euros (el, 500).
The police prosecutor further told the court that Charles Iche and Justice Thomas received the sum of N120,000.00 and N150,000.00 respectively from Christian Onwumere, while, Hope Uroupa received the sum of N150,000.00 from Pere Dia being proceed from the robbery.
He averred that the  accused persons committed an offence punishable under section 6(b), 1, 2(a) (b), and section 5 of Robbery and Fire arms (special provisions) Act Cap. RII laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, E.C. Woke while remanding the accused persons in prison custody ordered that the original case file be forwarded to the DPP for legal advice. The case was adjourned to 07/5/2004.
