The Nigeria
Basketball Federation (NBBF) has said it did not feel any new basketball talent could be discovered at the ongoing Nigeria Universities Games (NUGA) in Ile-Ife, Osun.
NBBF President, Tijani Umar, told newsmen in an interview in Abuja that most of the Games’ basketballers “are known faces already’’.
Umar who spoke on the scouting of talents at the games said many of the basketballers in the universities are already featuring in the federation’s league competitions.
“There is no new basketball talent that we will say we want to get from the NUGA Games, because they are already part of us.
“Some of them are playing for clubs in the DSTV Men’s League, while some are playing in the Zenith Bank Women’s League and some are even in the national teams,” the NBBF president said.
The 24th edition of the Games is holding at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife from February 12 to 22.
Basketball is one of the 15 sports featuring at the 10-day event.
