Man, 30, In Custody Over Kidnapping
A thirty-year-old man,
Emmanuel Peterside has been remanded in Port Harcourt prison custody by a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate court presided over by I.F. Iyiabo for kidnapping and armed robbery on charge sheet number, PMC/191C/2014. The accused person, Emmanuel Peterside, 30, is standing trial on four count charge on kidnapping, armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearms before Chief Magistrate Ipalibo F. Iyiabo.
The police prosecutor, Insp Wilson Isaiah, told the court that the accused and others now at large on the 17th day of November 2013 at about 0500hrs at Bakana Creek Rivers State in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District did conspire among themselves to commit felony to wit kidnapping.
The police prosecution also said that the accused person and others at large on the same date and place in the aforesaid magisterial district did conspire among themselves to commit felony to wit armed robbery.
He also told the court that the accused person and others now at large, on the same date and place in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District while armed with AK47 riffle and other dangerous weapon and with intent to demand ransom, did kidnap one Mr Peter Opera and unlawfully imprisoned him in such a manner as to prevent his parents or any person to have access to him from discovering the place where he was imprisoned.
The police prosecution further told the court that the accused and others now at large on the same date and place within the jurisdiction of the Port Harcourt Magisterial District, while armed with AK47 riffle did rob Mr Peter Opera and his crew members of one drum of fuel and other valuables valued at two million naira (N2000,000.00) thereby committed an offence punishable under section 516 A(1) of the criminal code 37, vol II laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999, I(2)(b) of the Rivers State kidnap (prohibition) law N0.3 of 2009 and I(2)b of the Robbery and Firearms (special provisions) Act law of the Federation 2014.
