IPMAN Suspends Strike Over Bad Roads

The national leadership
of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has announced through a statement issued by the union the suspension of its planned strike action nationawide.
The union has planned to embark on strike over the dilapidated and poor condition of roads in most parts of the country.
According to a reliable source at the unions zonal office Alesa Eleme, who pleaded anonymity said the quick intervention of the Federal Government to act on the union request had necessitated the union to shelve the proposed planned industrial action.
He said the Federal Government had promised to effect the immediate rehabilitation of major roads across the country, stressing that the leadership of the union has considered that as a step in the right direction.
The union said their demand has yielded positive result as the Federal Government has begun rehabilitation of roads in the South-West, North-East, South-East and the South-South with the ongoing major work on the East West road.
The union enjoined the contractors to fast-track the ongoing work within the specification of time before the commencement of this year’s rain.
The union said the quality of the ongoing road works are superb, stressing that the union would ensure quality service delivery through good roads.
