Harrison Tare Okirie
popularly known as Harrisong  is today reaping the fruits of his hard work as his MTN sponsored award for the most downloaded  callertunes of 2013 at the recently held headies award has taken him to places across the globe.

By attending the globally acclaimed best entertainment awards in company of his bosom friend, Kingsley Okonkwo, widely known as KCEE, Harrisong could be said to be reaping the reward for hard work and ingenuity.

It was gathered that his trip to Las Vegas was facilitated and sponsored by MTN as part of the benefits attached to the recognition accorded to the Delta-born artiste for his tributary song titled “Mandela” at the headies award held in December 2013.

The song which was released shortly after the demise of the ex-South African President went ahead to record over 2 million down loads in less than two weeks on the MTN e-distribution network callertunez.

The talented singer who was sponsored by MTN to Las Vegas to attend last year’s grammy Awards expressed his joy, describing it as     a dream come true and thanked the tele communication giant and ICT Company for the opportunity to attend the glammorus event alongside other celebrities from around the world.

It would be recalled that last year’s grammy awards had a few surprises as Seattle born rapper MackLemore and Ryan Lewis became the stars of the night as the duo bagged four awards for the best artist, best Rap performance, best rap song and best rap album for 2013. Close to the duo was Daft Punk who also carted home the same number of awards.

Also Jayz received the award for best Rap/song collaboration for the song “Holygrail, featuring Justin Timberlake. Other artistes on the prestigious awards list are Pharrell Williams, Alisa Keys, Darius Rucker, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Kacey Musgraves Ben Harper, Herb Alpert and others.

However Femi Kuti still maintains the record of being nominated in the Grammy for four times as no Nigerian has ever achieved this feat.
