Group Urges Speaker To Run For Senate
The Okigwe Youths
in Politics and Democracy Group has urged the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Mr Benjamin Uwajumogu, to run for the Okigwe Senatorial seat in 2015.
The National Chairman of the group, Mr Austin Onuoha, made the call during a courtesy visit to the speaker in Owerri, recently.
Onuoha said the zone required vibrant representation for the well-being of its citizens, especially the rural poor who had not been adequately represented.
He said the speaker had been identified as “an ideal candidate” for the desired change in Okigwe zone based on his leadership of the assembly.
He said the people of Okigwe would be eager to vote for him owing to his efforts toward the development and empowerment of the people of the area.
The youth leader urged Uwajumogu to identify with the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he described as a credible platform to realise the ambition.
Responding, Uwajumogu thanked the group for its support and commendation and promised to put more effort into the development of the Okigwe zone.
