The Federal Road
Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has assured the residents of Akwa Ibom State that it will rehabilitate the federal roads in the state.
The Project Engineer of FERMA in the state, Mr Emmanuel Onu, gave the assurance in an interview with newsmen in Uyo last Sunday.
Onu said that the early rain witnessed in some parts of the state would not affect the agency’s projects, adding that work was in progress on four roads in the Oron Area of the state.
He told reporters that a proposal for the rehabilitation of the Ikot Ekpene-Umuahia Road had been made, and assured that work would commence on it immediately the proposal was approved.
Onu said that FERMA would resolve issues on the skipped Ikot-Aba portion of the Itu-Ikot Ekpene Road project with the Niger Delta Development Commission.
He appealed to residents of the state to cooperate with the agency to enable it to achieve its objective of ensuring that all federal roads in the state were motorable all year round.
