FAAN To Install New Chillers At Lagos Airport
The Federal Airports
Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is to replace the old air conditioning equipment that was installed at the international terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, when it was built in 1979.
Aviation parastatals spokesman, Yakubu Dati said FAAN has made an order for a replacement.
According to Dati, the government opted for a complete replacement of the cooling system at the terminal as a lasting solution to the epileptic cooling system at the terminal which was installed over 32 year, ago and had become obsolete and therefore difficult to maintain.
“This situation explains the sub-optional performance of the cooling system at the terminal for some time now”, he said.
Dati added that procurement and installation of the three new chillers, due to be completed within the first quarter of 2014, is expected to substantially improve the cooling system and thereby enhance system and passenger comfort at the terminal in line with FAAN’s mission of providing customer –centric service at all the airports.
“This will also complement other efforts being made by the Federal Government under the transformation agenda in the aviation industry to modernize facilities at Nigerian airport, in line with international standards and best practices,” he said.
