Ex-Eagles Spokesman Lauds LMC For League Reform
A former Media Of
ficer of the Super Eagles, Colin Udoh, has lauded the League Management Company’s (LMC) effort at restructuring the Globacom Premier League.
Udoh told newsmen in Lagos that a robust reform was what the league needed to be competitive.
He called on club managers to cooperate with the LMC in its effort to rebuild the Nigerian top flight football competition.
“The LMC is doing a great job as far as I think.
“The LMC has tried to replicate what is obtainable internationally, which is good but it needs the support of the club owners.
“We need to be proactive, the clubs should endeavour to comply with FIFA’s laid down rules as this will help the LMC in the restructuring of the league,” Udoh.
He said the league might soon regain its past glory because the LMC had made the welfare of players in the competition a topmost priority which was lacking in the past.
According to Udoh, the restructuring process is going to give our home-based players a sense of purpose.
“The success of home-based players at the recent African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa shows that our league should be taken more seriously because we have quality players in it,’’ Udoh said.
The 2013/2014 Globacom Premier League is expected to kick off on March 7 across the country.
