Cycling Champion Urges Girls To Go Into Sports
Winner of the just
concluded 9th Garden City Cycling Championship held last Sunday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Rita Miebaka Aggo, has urged young girls to go into sports.
Aggo urged young girls especially, those in the street to go into sports, saying that they can benefit immensely and make a living out of sports.
She stated this while speaking with sports writers Sunday, shortly after her victory in the professional female cycling event.
According to her, sports have the capacity to expose and bring someone to the limelight, if athletes chose sports they would excel as they progress in their chosen sports.
She said that sports have brought her into limelight, adding that, she is determined to get to her peak, by competing internationally.
The current champion of the Garden City cycling competition further noted that with sports athletes have bright future and also do away with negative influences capable of destroying them.
“I have been in this competition since 2007, when I clinched second position and in the subsequent edition. I also, came second, but so far it has been good, because, I have always bagged the first position,” she explained.
She however, attributed her victory to teamwork, determination and commitment to her chosen sport.
