Council Boss Donates Vehicle To Students
As part of his
administration’s commitment to education, the chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Barrister Reginald Ukwuoma, has donated a Toyota bus to the National Union of Etche Students (NUES).
Ukwuoma, while handing over the key of the vehicle to NUES president, Comrade Agbagwa last week Thursday in Port Harcourt, said the donation was part of his administration’s commitment to good education in the area and his desire to cushion the effects of transportation problem facing the leadership of the students union.
He promised that his administration would continue to accord education and learning in the area priority attention in line with the education policy of the Rivers State governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
He, however, warned the students in the area to shun cultism and other forms of social vices that are detrimental to their future, adding that they should also avoid being used as political thugs by politicians.
Receiving the bus, Comrade Agbagwa thanked the local government boss for his gesture, saying “This is the first time in the history of NUES for a president either past or present to use a brand new bus purchased by the council leadership.
“We were intimidated when we see other LGA student unions driving their own vehicles. The vehicle will enable us carry out our duties and we thank the Almighty God for this gesture and we are praying for our chairman’s life,” he stated.
He appealed to the council boss to pay bursary to students of the area studying in various higher institutions across the country, stressing that the payment of the bursary would assist the students immensely in their studies.
Comrade Agbagwa commended the Ukwuoma led administration for the giant strides recorded in the area of infrastructural development in the area.
The NUES president reiterated the support of Etche students to Ukwuoma led administration and that of Governor Amaechi in the State, saying both administrations have recorded tremendous achievements.
