Completion Of Market Road Excites Traders
Despite the slow pace
of trading at the popular fruits and vegetables market along Kaduna Street in Port Harcourt due to the construction of the road by the Rivers State government, traders have heaved a sigh of relief.
This followed the completion of the road as normal business activities have gathered momentum.
Some of the traders who spoke to our correspondent on the development said during the road construction, vehicles supplying goods to the market stopped which adversely affected business activities in the market.
According to Mrs. Joy Imene, who sells assorted fruits, suppliers, mostly from the northern part of the country stopped supplying throughout the road construction period.
“Throughout the period of the road construction, most suppliers went to other areas to supply. “This affected our business greatly. We are happy that the road has been done and business has resumed in earnest” she said.
For Mallam Aliyu Sani, who is a cart pusher, business during the road construction affected them even as he praised the Rivers State government for the speedy completion of the road.
For Mr John Chindah and Simeon Jacob, the road construction was a mixed blessing as the expansion of the road has eased the free flow of traffic along Kaduna Street.
