Following the sacking of
Aminigboko community in Abua/Odual Local Government Council, Rivers State last December by yet to be identified gunmen, the chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC) of Aminigboko, Mr. Chukwudi Georgewill has called on the Rivers State Government to wade into the matter.
The CDC boss who spoke to our  correspondent recently were he was taking refuse with his family, said the people  who were predominately farmers were  suffering untold  hardship for no just cause.
He said since it was farming season and the community was deserted, the possibility of stealing of farm produce in the area could not be over looked.
“I  heard that some people have taken advantage of the situation to go  and steal in the farmers that have been abandoned” he lamented.
He expressed worry on the silence of the Oda Abuan, Chief Kale Obuge on the matter given the fact that he was  the only  first class chief in Abua.
It would be recalled that unidentified gunmen stormed the community on Christmas  day, killing a number of people including children.
In a statement then, the chairman of the Abua/Odual Local Government Council, Hon Udi Odum said, the incident was as a result of two warring cult groups.
The chairman’s statement according to reports was corroborated by the Rivers State Police  Command.
However, some of the fleeing  community people debunked the two claims even as they said “it was a figment of their imaginations”.
Meanwhile, efforts to speak with the ABOLGA boss, police authorities  and the Oda-Abuan before going to press was not successful.
