APC Registration: Jonathan’s Town Records Highest Turn-Out
A former national
youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and now a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Timi Frank, said the party’s membership registration in Bayelsa State witnessed the highest turn-out in Otueke, the home town of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Mr Frank, who described the APC membership registration in Bayelsa as peaceful, said “it was shocking that the highest turn-out for APC registration in Bayelsa State was in Otuoke, the president’s home town.”
Speaking to newsmen at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, shortly before his departure to Abuja, Frank disclosed that he dumped the PDP because “the party is drowning and Nigerians want a change for a better future that would be found in APC.”
The youth leader, who hails from Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Governmnt Area of Bayelsa State, said APC would give the country real dividends of democracy.
He condemned the neglect of Bayelsa community by an Ijaw presidency, especially the way President Jonathan was handling the court judgement which awarded N37 billion compensation for human and material losses suffered by the Odi Community during the invasion by soldiers.
According to him, “the community was destroyed when President Jonathan was Deputy Governor and under an Ijaw president, he sat on N37billion granted by court to the people. Can the money bring back lives in Odi? Yet, the Federal Government appealed against the judgment.”
Expressing optimism that Nigerians would vote out PDP in 2015, Mr Frank stated that the signs were clear that the APC government would address the yearnings of the Niger Delta people.
He, however, advised Nigerian youths to shun all forms of violence capable of truncating the country’s democracy.
