9th Garden City Cycling Holds In PH, Sunday
All is now set for the 9th
edition of the Garden City Cycling Championship expected to hold on Sunday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The competition which is expected to be an open event for participants across the Federation would kick-off at the AP Filling station through Moscow Road to UTC, Azikiwe Road, Station road to Lagos bus-stop and back to its starting point, Aggrey road.
Head Coach of the Rivers state Cycling Association, Emma Adesanya said officials from the Italian Cycling Federation would visit the state in order to monitor the competition.
He explained that the aim of the Italians visit is to help Nigeria Cycling grow.
“They are coming to monitor the event as to enable them get a view of where and what they can do to assist the countries cyclying to get to the desire height”, Coach Adesanya said.
He further explained that the competition is organised beyond the Niger Delta region, adding that it is only in Rivers State that Cycling Championship is held annually pointing out that some experienced athletes from other states would take part in the event.
Coach Adesanya, advised his team to put up a better performance in order to exceed their previous records in the competition, saying that the event would be used as a yard stick to measure their level of performance ahead of the forthcoming 19th National Sports festival scheduled to hold in Calabar, Cross Rivers state.
