Rivers Voice Condemns Pro-Police Protest In Bori
The South-East Senatorial District of the Rivers Voice, has described yesterday’s demonstration in support of the police shooting of Senator Magnus Abe by a section of Felix Obuah-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as unfortunate, and an indication that the party was behind the assassination attempt on the Ogoni son.
A statement by the Rivers Voice South-East Senatorial District Co-ordinator, Emma Osaro, urged the people to ignore the few individuals mainly grassroots Development Initiative (GDI) members involved in the demonstration allegedly arranged by Fred Kpakol at the instance of PDP, insisting that the move was a continuation of the wickedness against Ogoni people.
Osaro criticize PDP for wanting Senator Abe dead, because of his consistent voice against the non-implementation of the UNEP report and plans to dump the party for APC.
He berated the likes of Fred Kpakol for jubilating at the shooting of their kinsman, stressing that every Ogoni man should be concerned about what happened to Senator Abe despite ideological differences and political affiliation.
The Co-ordinator reminded the few persons involved in the demonstration that the people would no longer allow an Ogoni to be slaughtered like Ken Saro-Wiwa and others killed by the Federal Government and their agents in the 1990s.
“I am not surprised that the police protected the demonstrators as against those that protested the shooting of Senator Abe; we lost Ken Saro-Wiwa to the Federal Government, now they want to kill our dependable senator and son. We will resist it,” he declared.
