Rent Payment: Court Arraigns Trader For Damaging Fence

Adebayo, was docked at an Apapa Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly damaging a perimeter fence valued at N140,000.
Adebayo, 43, who resides at Okemedu area of Igbologun, Snake Island, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and unlawful damage.
The prosecutor, Insp. Friday Inedu, told the court that the accused, with others now at large, conspired and unlawfully damaged a perimeter fence of a building belonging to Mr Joseph Ogbu.
“The accused maliciously damaged the fence after an argument between the complainant and Bola over an increase in house rent,” he said.
According to him, the accused committed the offences on October 25 at the same address.
The offences, he added, contravened Sections 348 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Sections 348 stipulates two years imprisonment for offenders.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr Adeyemi Amos, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned to February 20 for mention.
