Obi Tasks Soldiers On National Unity
Governor Peter Obi of
Anambra State has urged the Nigerian Army to continue to protect the sovereignty of the country.
Obi made the appeal while receiving 10 newly-trained army officers from the state who visited him at Government House, Awka last Thursday.
The governor, who spoke through the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Oseloka Obaze, said the soldiers were fortunate to be admitted into the service from the numerous applicants.
Obi said their visit which coincided with the armed forces remembrance week in the state was an occasion to reflect on the country’s past heroes.
The governor urged them to be good ambassadors of the state and worthy sons of Igbo land by showing sincerity, dignity and respect in the discharge of their duties.
“You are the few good men chosen from many who had aspiration of serving in the Nigerian military and as good soldiers, the sky is your limit.
“The government wants you to be good ambassadors of Anambra State and the Igbo nation,” Obi said.
