NURTW To Train Members On Good Driving

The  leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers  (NURTW) has rolled out plans for its members through good driving training scheme.

The National President of the union Comrade Najims Usman stated this in a statement by the Union  during the recent reorientation of the Union members on proper driving at the Isaac Boro Park in Port Harcourt.

Usman said the period of reckless driving by members of the Union was over, adding that members of the Union must be seen as responsible citizens and careful drivers.

He said the frequent accidents on most Nigeria highways was as a result of recklessness exhibited by some of the Union members plying the highways.

He said the leadership of the Union has agreed to train its members on proper driving on the highways thereby reducing the frequent incident of unfortunate accidents.

Usman said the Union has partnered with a registered driving school with an international standards to train its members for a period of three months on various rudiments of proper driving and road signs.

The Union leader also said the Union would partner with Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on regular orientation courses of its members.

He commended the FRSC management for the regular interactive session with the Union, stressing that such interactive session would also keep members  under close watch by officials of the Corps.
