NTF Wants ITF, CAT To Build Tennis Academy In Nigeria
The President, Nigeria
Tennis Federation (NTF), Sani Ndanusa, has urged the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) to build a tennis academy in Nigeria.
Ndanusa told newsmen recently in Abuja that Africa had only two tennis academies, located in Mali and Morocco.
The president, however, added that the two academies were located in countries where language barrier was a challenge for Nigerian players.
He said that with the performance of Nigerian young talents at the last international competition in Abuja, it was important to have an academy where players can be nurtured.
“I hereby urge both ITF and CAT to build a tennis academy in Nigeria, based on the bundles of talents we have.
“The academy will help monitor and nurture future talents.
“I implore the bodies to consider an academy in Nigeria for the interest of the game in the country,” he said.
Ndanusa added that the federation would seek for more sponsors before the Africa Junior Tennis Championship (AJTC) billed for March in Nairobi, Kenya.
