NSF: Director Tasks Taraba On Early Preparations
Acting Director of
Sports, Taraba Sports Council, Yosei Ayuba, has said that athletes in the state have started preparations for the forthcoming National Sport Festival.
The 19th edition of the fiesta, tagged “Paradise Games’’ will be staged in Calabar from November 23 to December 7.
Ayuba told newsmen in Lagos that the state government would provide a favourable environment for the athletes to excel at the festival.
“We have started training our athletes to avoid late preparations and also to improve on the results we had at the last festival and the National Youth Games in Abuja.
“We are operating an open camp system to discover and nurture new athletes that will substitute those tired ones for the coming Paradise Games,” she said.
The acting director said that the state did not perform well at the Eko 2012 with the team having only a bronze medal.
She said that there were plans to hold the state sports festival in order to prepare and discover budding talents before any major competition.
“We could not organise the state sports festival last year due to the National Youth Games in Abuja and this brought about our drought in winning medals.
