NIMC Begins NIN Enrolment In Lagos, Abuja

The National Identity
Management Commission, (NIMC) on Monday said it has commenced Saturday enrolment into the National Identification Number (NIN) exercise in Lagos and Abuja.
This is contained in a statement signed by the commission’s Director of Corporate Communication, Mr Anthony Okwudiafor in Abuja.
NIMC stated that enrolment centres would be opened to applicants from Monday to Friday between 8.30 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on Saturdays, between 9.00 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The statement said the Saturday additional date was to avail more Nigerians the opportunity to be enrolled, noting that
“The general public is by this, advised to turn out and have their information captured into the National Identity Database.
“Every citizen from the age of 16 years and above and legal resident will be able to enrol for the NIN,’’ it said.
According to the statement, the commission has also set-up a pre-enrolment portal, which allows individuals to access the pre-enrolment form at their convenience and gave the address of the portal as www.ninenrol.gov.ng.
“Nigerians are advised to log onto the portal, fill the form by providing information on the entire mandatory and fields.
“Anyone who fills through the portal would print out the summary sheet with a 2D Barcode and Registration ID number.
“Applicant will then proceed to any NIMC Enrolment Centre nearest to him/her for finger prints and photo capturing with the printed summary sheet (2D Barcode),’’ it said.
It said applicants were also required to bring along any primary source document including Birth Certificate, Evidence of Address of Residence, Educational Qualifications, for identification.
According to the statement, the primary source documents will help the enrolment officer verify the claims made by applicant and subsequent completion of the enrolment process.
