Monarch Honours Educationists
The Onye Ishi Etche, Eze Emmanuel Opurum (JP) has honoured three prominent educationists in Etche land with chieftaincy titles.
Those honoured were Prof. Paul Eke, the Head of Sociology Department, University of Port Harcourt, Engineer Joseph Amaechi of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt and the Principal of Government Secondary School, Ozuzu Etche in Etche Local Government Area, Chief Eugene Njoku.
Eze Opurum said the honour was in appreciation of their immense efforts towards upliftment of Etche land through their career in education sector.
The royal father noted that those installed were unanimously presented to his palace by their communities and that after proper screening, they were found fit for the honour.
Prof Paul Eke was honoured with the title of Ihe I of Etche land, Engineer Joseph Amaechi was honouredwith the title of Ogbugaa I of Isu Etche while Chief Eugene Njoku was honoured witht eh title of Ochi Oha I of Akpoku town.
They received certificates of recognition, staff of authority and other traditional paraphernalia from the majesty who also charged them to be fair to all and to always discharge their duties with the fear of God.
Our correspondent who covered the coronation ceremony said the event was graced by who-is-who in Etche land especially the academics.
Responding, Chief Eugene Njoku commended the people of Akpoku for reposing confidence in him and promised to do his best for the upliftment of Akpoku town.
