Labour Threatens To Reject TCN Engineers
The organised labour
under the aegis of the South-South Organised Labour is set to reject any newly recruited engineer by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) posted to the South-South.
Speaking to The Tide in Port Harcourt last Tuesday, one of the prominent leaders of the Labour in the South-South, Comrade John Didifa accused the TCN of marginalisation of the people of the South-South geo-political zone in the company’s recent recruitment exercise.
He said the South-South graduates were left out of the recruitment exercise when the TCN recently recruited over 522 engineers.
The Labour leader said the organized labour in the region has directed the leadership of the electricity unions not to accept any posting of Engineers to any of the electricity firms within the region.
He said the recruitment was done by the Transmission Company of Nigeria regional office based in Lagos without regards to the principle of Federal character as enshrished in the nation’s constitution.
He said there are qualified graduates of engineering in the region and the company failed to put into consideration the need to recruit some of these qualified graduates of Engineering.
He also accused the company of biase and carrying out an ethnic agenda during the recruitment exercise.
However, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is a successor company of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
The company has recently recruited 522 engineers as part of its contribution to reduce unemployment and boost electricity supply nationwide.
