Kwara, NLC To Provide 2,000 Housing Units To Civil Servants
The Kwara State Government last Wednesday said it had concluded arrangements with the Nigeria Labour Congress to provide 2,000 housing units for workers in the state.
The Head of Service, Alhaji Mohammed Dabarako, disclosed this to newsmen in Ilorin.
He said the collaboration followed the state government’s commitment to provide civil servants with affordable shelter.
Dabarako said beneficiaries of the housing units would be workers contributing to the National Housing Fund.
He said it was always sad for a civil servant to retire without a home, adding, “that’s an area I am now looking at, which I consider as a serious matter.”
He said housing loan would be given to successful civil servants, which would be paid between 15 and 20 years.
The head of service said the houses would spread to all categories of workers.
Dabarako said the state government would provide land for the project while investors would build the houses and hand over the keys for onward distribution to the interested buyers.
“I will work to ensure that there is housing for all the civil servants in the state.”
