FG Declares Tuesday Public Holiday

The Federal Government yesterday in Abuja declared January 14 as public holiday in commemoration of the Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
Eid-el-Maulud is held to observe the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, and occurs in Rabi’ al-awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar.
This is contained in a statement issued by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mrs Fatima Bamidele.
The statement enjoined all Muslim faithful and the populace to support and cooperate with President Goodluck Jonathan in his sustained effort to build a peaceful, united and virile nation.
The statement urged all Nigerians to use the period to pray for peace in the nation.
