Discovery Air Recruits More Staff

Discovery Air, Captain Abdulsalami Mohammed has said the airline which will begin scheduled operations soon is on track to obtain its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
Captain Mohammed said as a result the airline is recruiting more staff members as part of preparations to begin, scheduled flight operations very soon.
“We are absolutely on track to take off shortly as we are fully cooperating with the NCAA to ensure a timely conclusion of the proving flights and offer regulatory processes leading to our certification. Discovery Air is resolute in adhering to the Nigerian Civil Aviation, Regulations (NCAR) as well as globally recognized safety standards”, he said.
He noted that the airline’s recruitment exercise was still ongoing, noting that the airline has in the last one year recruited a team of dedicated and competent workforce that has so far delivered on the actualization of the airline objectives.
“Shortly, we will be recruiting additional hands to boost our operations in the areas of cockpit crew, engineers, IT Staff as well as Ticketing and Reservation Personnel”, Mohammed said.
Mohammed said the airline has been focusing in the past few months on recruiting the best Nigerian staff and creating the foundations for a world-class airline.
“The vision of Discovery Air is to employ suitably qualified Nigerians at all levels within the company in the shortest possible time. The vast majority of our people will be Nigerians and when we need to bring in international experts with specific skills, they will be charged with grooming Nigerian successors.
He explained that the recruitment process of the airline is both rigorous and objective as the aim is to assemble professionals with the right experience, technical skills and character to deliver top class on board and on-ground services to passengers.
Discovery Air is a private sector driven airline incorporated on July 23, 2008 as a Private Limited Liability Company built from ground zero with an aspiration to become a Nigerian multinational company.
The Managing Director hinted that the airline is fully owned by Nigeria share holders and is now set to operate commercial air services within Nigeria and the continent with Lagos as operational hub.
