Director Receives Victorious Rivers Basketball Team

of Rivers State Male Basketball team, Riv pioneer, were received on Monday, by the state director of Sports, Sir Daobu Harvest Harry for the team’s victory at the just concluded basketball championship tagged “Mark The Ball Open Basket Tournament”.
The competition which was sponsored by the Senate President David Mark was held in Oturukpo in Benue State.
Speaking at the reception ceremony, the leader of the team Fubara Iyanabo said that the team was at the competition for fun adding that the state ended up being the champions of the tournament and also won two individual prizes.
According to him the prizes include the best blocker and best pointer prizes at the competition.
In his speech, the Director of Sports, Harvest Harry commended the team’s efforts and assured that the trophy won at the competition would be presented to the state government through the state sports council board.
He also said that the state government would continue to support the team and other sporting associations as they prepare for the forth coming National Sports Festival (NSF) scheduled to hold in Calabar, Cross River State later this year.
He however, urged the team to put down their expenditures during the competition and assured that, he presents it alongside the trophy, saying that, the amount spent would be refunded.
