Court Remands Man Over Alleged Armed Robbery

An Ikeja Magistrates’
Court in Lagos last Thursday remanded a bricklayer, Dayo Kehinde, 22, at the Kirikiri Prisons, Apapa, over alleged armed robbery.
The accused, residing at Okokomaiko  near Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Mrs Margaret Dan-Oni, ordered that the accused be remanded in custody, pending legal advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions.
Dan-Oni, however, did not take the plea of the accused and adjourned the case till February 20, for mention
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Edet Okoi, told the court that the accused and others at large committed the offences on December 30, 2013 at 6.30 a.m, at Church Bus Stop, Okokomaiko.
He said that Kehinde and his gang, while armed with a pistol and other dangerous weapons, robbed one Osita Olisa of N60,000.
Okoi said, “the accused way-laid Olisa who was going to work and robbed him of the amount on him.”
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 1 (2) (a), (b) and 5, of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap. 398, Vol. XXii Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990.
