Super Eagles midfielder Abdullahi Shehu has declared that the best is yet to come from him and his teammates at the on-going African Nations Championship (Chan) were they will face fast-paced Morocco in the quarter-finals.
The Kano Pillars player in a message to Nigerian fans through the Media Officer of the Super Eagles, Ben Alaiya, assured that the team is in South Africa with the sole aim of lifting the Chan trophy.
“Tell them they have not seen anything yet, we are here for nothing but the trophy and we have shown that with our game against South Africa,” the player was quoted to have said.
“But I must say that was not our best match, the games ahead will show our true quality,” the hard working midfielder assured.
Nigeria faces Morocco on Saturday after the North African country beat Uganda 3-1 to top Group B and qualify for the next round.
Meanwhile, the Director, Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Mike Idoko, last Monday expressed the hope that the Super Eagles can win the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa.
Idoko told newsmen in Akure that the team was improving with each game, stressing that what affected their game initially was due to the break in the league.
The Eagles last Sunday qualified for the quarterfinals after defeating hosts, South Africa 2-1 in the last Group A match.
“The team played well against the host, they improved as the game progressed from the first to the third group game.
“I think what happened was that the boys rested for a longer period of time from competitive football because the Nigeria league was on break and it affected their performance against Mali,’’ he said.
According to Idoko, the Eagles could still go all the way and win the championship on the same soil that they had  won the 2013 AFCON  in South Africa.
