Two High Courts of Rivers State Judiciary were early hours on Monday rocked with bomb explosion that destroyed both properties and valuable documents belonging to the courts in the state.
The two courts are the Okehi in Etche and Ahoada Local Government Areas of the state.
The areas affected by Monday’s bombing at Ahoada High Court, which occurred at about 2. Am was the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Secretariat, located within the court premises.
The Tide learnt that when judiciary workers reported for duty on that day the registrar noticed two strange objects to be dynamites.
It was further gathered that the court registrar raised alarm and invited policemen attached to anti-bomb squad from the state command, who rushed to the scene and confirmed the two objects to be dynamites.
Meanwhile, the Okehi High Court in Etche Local Government Area of the state has been gutted by fire on the early hours of Monday morning.
Most affected by the inferno was the Chief Magistrate Court Hall, the registry, case files, documents as well as funitures.
A source told The Tide that incident was not an electrical fault as there was no trace of such.
Although the identity of the perpetrators are not known and no arrest has been made by the police, The Tide learnt that the intention of those behind the fire incidence was to destroy some important case files in the court.
Our correspondent who visited the scene of the incident reports that packet of matches, tyres and axe was seen at the gate and entrance to the court hall which was used by the hoodlums to gain access to the premises of the court as well as set the place on fire.
