The Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) has in Abuja said it had concluded plans to hold the 2013/2014 pre-season seminar in the four zones of the country.

The NRA President, Ahmed Maude, disclosed to newsmen that the seminar was to prepare the referees for their duties in the various leagues.

Maude said the seminar would hold between February 14 and 15 in the zones.

He explained that the seminar had been divided into zones because it would be difficult to assemble all the Nigerian referees at a venue due to their large number.

“The North-Western and North-Eastern states will hold their seminar in Kano, while the North-Central states will have theirs in Abuja.

“Lagos will host the South-Western states, while the South-East and South-South states will meet in Owerri for their seminar,’’ Maude told newsmen.

“The essence is to keep the referees abreast of the amendments in the laws of the game and some other salient issues before the commencement of the new season.’’

According to him, this will ensure that referees taking part in the various leagues from the elite to the lowest tier will participate so as to have a hitch-free season.
