Agbim, Grateful For Nigeria’s Support
Super Eagles Keeper,
Chigozie Agbim says he is grateful to Stephen Keshi and everyone who supported him during his turbulent first two games for Nigeria at the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Agbim was at the end of some venomous criticism after the first two games of the tournament, with fans going as far as calling for his replacement with Under-17 World Cup-winning Goalkeeper, Dele Alampasu.
But Keshi stuck by his captain and was vindicated when the Rangers goalkeeper rewarded him with a near error-free performance against the hosts.
Agbim was naturally grateful.
“I must thank God and my family for their support and the fans too,” he said.
“I must also thank those who stood by me. It wasn’t easy going through such a period but I am happy that I did well against South Africa.
“And I want to thank coach Keshi especially because his confidence in me helped me to improve my performance in order not to disappoint him.”
