27 Sokoto Lawmakers Defect To APC

Out of the 30 mem
bers of Sokoto State House of Assembly who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), 27 have defected to All the Progressives Congress (APC) Wednesday.
The chairman of the House Committee on Information, Malawi Basakkwace, who confirmed this, said that the members decided to move to the APC to follow  the state Governor, Aliyu Wamakko, who was one of the five governors that defected to the APC.
“We are moving in line with the decision of His Excellency, Governor Aliyu Wamakko, to also move over to the APC”, he said.
The defectors include the speakers of the assembly and other principal officials.
The lawmaker noted that pressure from their constituency made them to move, coupled with the fact that the PDP was in crisis.
Governor Wamakko is among the rebel  governors who moved with five other governors to the APC.
