The Interim Chairman of
All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya has urged members to be committed to the party’s vision despite the challenges confronting it in the state.
Ikanya made the call last Saturday in Bori, the headquarter of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State at a rally organised by the Save Rivers Movement (SRM).
The APC boss thanked the organisers of the rally for their determination to ensure good governance and fair and free come elections 2015.
He thanked Ogoni people for their support to the APC and SRM, assuring the people that APC would provide good leadership in the state next year.
Also speaking, the state Coordinator of SRM Igoh Aguma stated that the group’s rallies at local government levels are intended to sensitize rural dwellers on the forthcoming elections in the country.
He called on Ogoni people to resist violence and intimidation by politicians in Ogoniland and note for those with track record of good leadership.
In his speech, former Chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, and a Chieftain in APC, Hon Uche Okwukwu, called on police to stop preventing people from expressing their views, insisting that it is the duty of the police to protest lives and properties and not to haunt innocent citizens.
He assured that the APC would win the 2015 election in the country.
