2014 NSF: Rivers Basketballers Target More Medals

Coach of the Rivers State Basketball Association Dagogo Okumgbe has expressed confidence that the team would get outing in the forthcoming 19th National Sports festival scheduled to hold in Calabar, Cross Rivers State later this year.

Okumgba, who stated this Tuesday, during an exclusive interview with Tidesportsin Port Harcourt said that the association is expecting a more successful outing in the festival.

The Coach explained that his confidence is based on the quality of athletes the association has on ground for the competition.

“I have about seven good athletes discovered from the school Sports and four are already on ground and with these athletes I am sure of a better outing in the National Sports fiesta”, he said.

He also said that, the seven talents discovered from the National schools Sports would be groomed and prepared ahead of the National Sports competition and other states and National events in the future.

He further said that the other four were already on ground, pointing out that the athletes represented the state during the 18th NSF tagged “Eko 2012” held in Lagos State.

“I can boost of 11 good athletes who can deliver, when the 19th National Sports Fiesta gets underway”, he noted.

It would be recalled that the team did not quality for the maiden edition of the “National youth Under 17 games” held in Abuja, last year, as, they clinched second position in their Calabar Zone doing the Zonal elimination of the NYG.
