2014 NSF: Director Tasks Rivers Coaches On Gold Winning

Head of Department Coaching, Rivers State Sports Council, Evangelist Ezekiel Ordu, has charged coaches in the state to work towards winning gold medals in the various sporting association at the forthcoming 19th National Sports Festival expected to hold in Calabar this year.

Ordu who made the charge during a meeting with coaches recently urged coaches to be focused and determined in order to achieve set goals of their association.

He explained that the aim of the meeting was to deliberate on the way forward for various sporting bodies in the state and how to tackle the challenges in the internal workings of the bodies as to enable them succeed in their target when the sports fiesta gets underway.

He however, advised coaches to scout for athletes who are competent to represent the state at the various local government areas and other places within the state where the potentials exist and prepare them for the task ahead.

“I advised them to be resourceful by going to different areas in the state to hunt for athletes and start preparing them before time”, he said.

The HOD also said the athletes to represent the state during the festival must train in the state, insisting that, they could do this by joining other athletes already on ground to train and not to appear at the time for camping preparations.

Also speaking, some who lamented of late coaches, arrival of equipment as their bane and pleaded that finance and training equipment be released on time to enable them do their job effectively.
