Tennis Champions Explain Success
The men’s pair of
Mojeed Olayiwola and Adeyinka Ahmed, who emerged champions of the doubles event of the ongoing 45th Asoju-Oba Table Tennis Championships have expressed joy over their victories.
Olayiwola told newsmen in Lagos that he was glad that they won the event, attributing their success to hard work and dedication to training.
“It was not an easy victory because our opponents gave us a tough challenge, but I thank God we came out successful at the end of the day,” he said.
Olayiwola said that it was not easy victory defeating the experienced duo of Azeez Ogunlade and Olajide Omotayo, who he described as talented and tenacious.
In the female event, Funke Hassan had paired Tolulope Durosinmi to defeat Taiwo Williams and Kehinde Bokinni.
Hassan said that the secret of their victory was as a result of their continuous communication during the match.
“I communicated frequently with my partner during the competition and this gave us an added advantage over our opponents.
“We watched out for weaknesses in our opponents strategies and built a counter plan, which paid off eventually,” she said.
The 45th Asoju-Oba Table Tennis Championships started in Lagos on November 25 and round off November 29.
