Bothered by the continuous poor quality service delivered to Nigerian subscribers by mobile operators, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), says it is now out against any poor service providers in the country.

The Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management at NCC, Mr Okechukwu Itanyi, said this at the fourth quarter meeting of the Consumer Advisory Forum  in Abuja recently.

He noted that mobile operators have not met up with its monthly assessment in the area of quality service provision.

Itanyi, regretted that the operators are yet to meet up with the key performance indicators agreement they entered with the commission sometime ago.

The NCC boss, put 50,000 complaints as the average of feedback the agency received from subscribers who are not satisfied with the mobile operators’ services.

The Tide learnt that part of the reason for the poor net-work service in the country, was due to non-availability of steady power supply, which they claim to be spending much on diesel purchase.

He did not spell out the terms of the sanction to be melted to any operator found wanting, but said that NCC will henceforth, sanction those who would not quickly provide solutions to the poor service syndrome.

According to him, the commission was bent on providing ICT goods and services, adding that  there is a paradigm shift from mere service provision in order to guarantee consumer satisfaction.

The commission’s Director, Consumer Affairs Bureau, Mrs Maryam Bayi, also confirmed the 50,000 complaints received daily by subscribers in the country.

Meanwhile, she has said that NCC has asked mobile phone operators to stop bombarding subscribers with unsolicited text messages, regretting that operators are not still complying to some of their directives.
