PH Discount Market Opens, ’Morrow

The Rivers State Ministry of Commerce and Industry says arrangements have been concluded to officially open the 3rd edition of the Port Harcourt Christmas Discount Market, tomorrow at Isaac Boro Park, Port Harcourt.
The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon Chuma Chinye disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt, last Monday.
He said that the purpose of the market is to enable people living in Rivers State buy goods at cheaper rates during the yuletide season.
“Our aim and objective is to ensure that people, most especially the common man, in the state buy goods cheap.
Every product and goods will be 20 per cent cheaper than the open market,” Chinye said.
He explained that security and quality of products are guaranteed in the discount market.
According to him, the wife of the state governor, Her Excellency Dame Judith Amaechi, is expected to be the special guest of honour, while the wife of the deputy governor, Dr Mina Ikuru, and Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Joeba West, would be guest of honour and chairman of the occasion, respectively.
Chinye used the forum to call on people living in the state to do all their shopping in the discount market.
He commended Governor Chibuike Amaechi for the approval of the market.
“I call on Rivers people to utilise the opportunity given to buy goods at cheaper rate. Honestly, I commend the governor for the approval of this discount market,” he stated.
