PDM’s Sensitisation Summit Ends In PH

One of the newly regis
tered political parties, the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) last Thursday held a sensitisation summit for members in Port Harcourt for the South-South geopolitical zone.
The National Chairman of PDM, Alhaji Bashir Yusuf told The Tide in an interview at the Port Harcourt International Airport, that the summit was to appraise progress of the party in the zone and to discuss how the existing party was operating.
Alhaji Yusuf who arrived the state with some members of the National Executive of the party, disclosed that the South-South Summit brought to four the number of zones already covered by the sensitisation programme of the party.
He explained that the summit was an avenue for all the leaders of the party in the various zones to interact on how best to implement the mission and vision of PDM as well as get views of members to enable them strategise for election.
The National Chairman said when the summit is concluded in the six Geopolitical zones, it would commence preparation for the National convention, noting that PDM was registered because of the dissatisfaction inherent in the operations of other political parties.
According to him, “we have our party clearly different from others; we want to have internal democracy, where nobody would impose candidates on them because there will be level playing field that gives fair opportunities to all”.
Alhaji Yusuf, stated that PDM soon after registration opened online portal for membership registration and therefore became the first party, to do so in Nigeria, stressing that the traditional manual party registration would start soon at the wards throughout the country.
The chairman also noted that PDM equally came first in the publication of mission statement and have received many other party decampees that have joined them, adding that all the other political parties look alike.
