The Nigeria Nation-Wide
League (NNWL) has signed a sponsorship deal worth N24 million with Standard Alliance Insurance Plc to support the football league competition over the next three years.
The league’s secretary, Olusola Ogunnowo, said in a statement last Wednesday in Abuja that the company would provide insurance cover for the league to the tune of N8 million annually.
“It provides, under that agreement, for mandatory comprehensive insurance policy for all the league clubs and endorsement of Standard Alliance Insurance Company as official insurance company for the league,’’ he said.
The statement disclosed that under the deal, death and permanent disabilities would attract N250,000 compensation while injuries would be compensated with N20,000.
It also said one Dr Olajide Adebola is now the league’s medical officer, with the responsibility of ensuring mandatory medical check-up for all and players in the league.
It said further that Premium Sports Management Services had been engaged as the league’s official marketer, while Mainstream Sports Management was contracted as the league’s consultant.
The statement also stated that all NNWL matches would be played on Thursdays and Fridays to avoid their clashing with national and premier league matches at weekends.
It said the arrangement would also enable NNWL clubs which share pitches with premier league sides to have access to standard pitches.
Registration for the 2013/2014 season will hold between December 16, 2013 and January 10, 2014.
The league’s division one matches are expected to hold between Jan. 24 and May 30, 2014.
