Lawmaker Spends N400m On Constituency Projects In Edo
Senator Domingo Obende (APC-Edo) says N400 million has been spent on various projects in his constituency since 2011.
Domingo announced this while addressing newsmen in Etsako west local council area of Edo State, after inspecting structures executed under his constituency projects fund.
“What we have expended in the constituency project is almost N400 million so far.
“But by the time we complete them, may be around February, it will be well over that amount,’’ he said.
According to him, the executed projects are 43 and are sited in all the six local governments that make up the senatorial district in Edo North.
The lawmaker said that 29 of the 43 projects had been completed, adding that the remaining projects would be completed in 2014.
He said that the projects were executed in the area to improve the lives of the people.
“By February 2014, all projects would be completed except those under the MDGs because of lack of funds.
“With the new management on board; I think with adequate funding, we would be able to carry Edo North to another level of development,’’ he said.
Some of the projects inspected are three classroom blocks, office and furniture, three 500 KVA transformers, three bore hole projects, five hand pump bore holes and street lights.
Others are five community halls, sports centres with facilities, primary and secondary schools.
The projects cut across Etsako West, Etsako East, Etsako Central, Owan West, Owan East and Akoko Edo, which make up Edo North Constituency.
