LASG Renovates, Constructs Classrooms
The Lagos State Government has said that it renovated or built about 1,000 blocks of classrooms in the last one year.
The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Mrs Gbolahan Daodu, made this known at an end-of- the-year party in Lagos.
She said that the government also provided 1,000 chairs and desks in 46 primary schools to ensure that pupils had conducive atmosphere for learning.
Daodu added that teachers were also engaged in training and retraining for effective delivery since they were the bedrock of sound education.
She said that the state government was committed to renovating all dilapidated structures in its primary schools as part of measures to enhance teaching and learning.
“With the co-operation of our council chairmen, we must employ more teachers in 2014.
“Although, we have teachers in some of our education districts, there are others that need to be equipped with more teachers,” she said.
Daodu said that increase in moral decadence in the society was responsible for cultism among secondary schools students.
She urged parents to inculcate values into their children.
“These children spend more time with their parents; so, parents should re-orientate them in line with our values to discourage them from being initiated into cultism,” she said.
