International Aviation College Graduates Pioneer Students

Eight students of the Ilorin International Aviation College (IAC) Iliorin, Kwara State that graduated from the college have been gainfully employed in the nation and international aviation industry.

Already three of them have been employed by the college as commercial pilots to add value to the growth of the college.

The Acting Rector of the college, Captain Abdulkarin Abduk Mumin (Rtd) disclosed this in Ilorin last week during a press briefing to mark the first graduation ceremony of the college.

According to him, “the eight affected grandaunts have completed their training with full commercial pilot license, instrument rating and multi-engine within a record of fifteen months. I am proud to inform you that all of them have been gainfully employed by reputable organisations within the industry.

He said the IAC had raised the standard of the aviation training in Nigeria, saying “we are already extending our tentacles to other West African countries so as to boost its development.”

While calling other stakeholders to join hands with the college in its growth, the Rector said it would go a long way to assist the college to add more value to the standard of aviation training in the college.

Captain Abdul Mumin stressed that the college had committed the sum of N4 billion to its sustenance for it to grow to the present standard.

He disclosed that the college had four air planes with new engines and it has helped the training of the students to be successfull at the end of the day.

The Rector therefore commended the visionary leadership of the former governor of the state, Senator Bukola Saraki and the present governor Alhaji Abdufatah Ahmed for their interest and commitment at ensuring the continuity of the college that led to what the college is celebrating in one year of its existence.

Also speaking, a member of the board of the Aviation College, Chief Leke Ogungbe said there was dearth of indigenous pilots in the country, hence the establishment of the company by the state government.

Ogungbe, who lamented that the country was losing foreign exchange with the situation, added that the state government was contributing to security of the country with the training of indigenous pilots.

He, however, said that the state government would hand over the college to private investors in the next few months.
