Improved Service Delivery: Expert Harps On Govt, NGOs Collaboration
President, Leadership
Watch and Consumer Right Advocacy Network, an NGO, Mr Martins Iwuanynwu, has called for greater collaboration between government and NGOs for enhanced service delivery to consumers.
Iwuanynwu made the call on Tuesday in Abuja in an interview with newsmen after the Fourth Quarter Meeting of Industry Consumer Advisory Forum (ICAF).
The meeting was organised by the Nigerian Communications Commission.
Iwuanynwu stressed the need for the government to make good use of the inputs from the private sector to achieve set goals.
“The collaboration can also be extended to communities to bring opinions of our leaders, including religious and traditional leaders together in some areas,” he said.
Prof. Felicia Monye of the Faculty of Law, University of Nsukka, Enugu Campus, told reporters that telecom providers needed to intensify efforts to be more consumer-friendly.
“If telecom operators want to give rewards to faithful subscribers they should do so and stop making people gamble when they have little or no chance of winning those rewards.
“Telecom operators should be more socially responsible to their subscribers.
“‘Let there be a clear cut distinction between promotions for greater coverage and pay back to the people growing their businesses,” he said.
